MHS offers In-Home & Out-of-home Respite Services that are customized to meet the needs of each individual person and situation.
Respite Options include:
Regular, ongoing weekly/monthly supports
Longer stays - if you’re going on vacation, etc.
Emergencies - when ‘life’ happens

Scheduling Respite Care is made easy with two simple steps:
Give us a call and tell us what you are looking for
You will meet with our Supports manager, together you will discuss your respite needs and we will match a Support Specialist to you. This first meeting can be held at a location that is most convenient for you; at your home, our office, coffee shop, etc.
Our team is First Aid/CPR certified, carry a completed police clearance with a vulnerable sector check (PVSC). They are respectful, knowledgeable, experienced and exceptional in their field. Our supports unit is staffed with Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Practical Nurses (RPN), Developmental Service Workers (DSW), Personal Support Workers (PSW) and Social Workers.
In the case of an emergency or an appointment we will send someone who the family is already familiar with and has a relationship with.
In the case of a longer respite stay, our Supports and Advocacy Manager will visit and ensure things are going as you planned in your first meeting.
When respite is provided inside your home, all of your normal house rules will be respected and followed.
When respite is outside of your home, it will be customized for your comfort, whether in a home with others or a one-on-one basis. Routines, medications, diets, etc, will be followed to ensure consistency.
